   General description

   The LP4056 is a complete constant current/constant voltage linear charger for single cell Li-Ion batteries. Its ESOP8 package and low external component count make the LP4056 an ideal choice for portable applications. In addition, the LP4056 is specifically designed for USB power specifications. No external sense resistor is required, and due to the internal MOSFET architecture, there is no need to block the diode. Thermal feedback regulates the charging current to limit the die temperature during high power operation or high ambient temperatures. The charging voltage is fixed at 4.2V and the charging current can be programmed externally with a single resistor. When the final floating voltage is reached and the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value, the LP4056 automatically terminates the charge cycle. When the input power (wall adapter or USB power) is removed, the LP4056 automatically enters a low current state, causing the battery leakage current to drop below 1μA. Other features include charge current monitoring, auto charge and status pins to indicate charge termination and the presence of input voltage.
